Haverá alguma sensação que supere isto?

As duas ultimas semanas têm sido um caos, com a mudança de casa.
Empacotar e desempacotar os últimos 6 anos da minha vida não me têm deixado muito tempo para mais nada (até porque fora isso há trabalho para fazer).
Não deixa de ser impressionante a quantidade de tralha que uma pessoa é capaz de guardar ao longo dos anos ... e aínda mais impressionante o facto de mesmo em regime de "limpeza", não me querer livrar de algumas delas. Representações físicas de pequenos momentos da vida que não queremos perder.
Meia dúzia de surfadas e outras tantas escapadelas rápidas à praia só para ver o mar, matar saudades, acalmar a alma foi tudo a que tive "direito".
Agora com a mudança quase completa e com alguns dias mais livres, já comecei a desforra, até porque as pranchas não foram feitas para passar muito tempo a seco ... nem eu.
These last couple of weeks have been a caos, with the house moving.
Packing and unpacking most of the last 6 years of my life hasn't let me much time for anything else (there's also work to do besides that).
It's impressive all the junk a person can keep throughout the years ... and even more impressive the fact that even though I was in "cleaning mode", I still kept some of it. Physical representations of some moments in life that we just don't want to lose.
Some surfing, and some quick trips to the beach just to check out the sea, soothe the soul, was all I was entitled to.
Now I've done almost all the moving and with some spare days, the rematch has started. After all boards weren't made to spend much time out of the water ... neither was I.

Qualquer surfista tem uma relação "anormal" com as suas pranchas.
São mais do que um objecto. São uma extensão do nosso corpo e da nossa personalidade.
Vezes sem conta procuramos sentir o shape, passar a mão à procura de pormenores, sentir os dings que conseguimos associar à surfada que os originou, enfim, contemplar aquele que é o veículo da nossa expressividade (ou falta dela) na água.
Para muitos dos shapers que as fazem, são a concretização técnica e artística de todo um conhecimento adquirido e acumulado e são a garantia de algo mais do que a vontade de fazer dinheiro. São, cada uma, uma instância da realização pessoal.
E há pranchas que passam a fronteira e entram no campo da arte, sem com isso deixarem de ser o que se pretende ... pranchas performantes.
Any surfer has an "abnormal" relation with his boards.
They are more than an object. They are an extension of our body and of our personality.
Over and over we seek to feel the shape, discover details, feel the dings which we can associate to the times they've been made, basically contemplate the vehicle of our expressiveness (or lack of it) in the water.
To many of their shapers, they are the technical and artistic expression of all the gathered knowledge and the assurance of the will to do more than just make money. They are, each and every one of them, an instance of personal achievement.
And there are boards that cross the border and become art, without ever losing what they are intended to be ... high performance boards.

Era suposto termos tido um swell épico, mas muito do que tivemos foi isto:
We were supposed to have had an epic swell, but most of the time what we got was this:
Com alguns imprevistos, juntando um pouco de trabalho e misturando bem, obtém-se um prato sem surf.
No entanto, houve tempo para manter o surf bem perto.
With some unforeseen events, adding a little work and mixing it nicely, you have a recipe with no surf.
However, I managed to keep surf really close.
Felizmente, em breve estou de regresso à água.
Fortunately, soon enough I'll be back on the water.

Já corriam nos "bastidores" rumores de que o European Fish Fry deste ano seria por terras Portuguesas ... e confirma-se. Vai ser dia 8 de Junho de 2008, na Costa da Caparica.
Após conversa com o Nuno estou aínda mais impaciente para que chegue a altura. Tenho a certeza que será espectacular. Será com um momento de grande partilha de informação, paixão e stoke.

There were already some backstage rumours that this year's European Fish Fry would be held on Portuguese territory ... and now it's confirmed. It will be on the 28th June 2008, at Costa da Caparica.
After talking with Nuno I'm even more impatient. I'm sure it'll be awesome. It'll be a moment to share information, passion and stoke.
Aqui está o primeiro post deste blog, cujo objectivo é unica e exclusivamente partilhar com quem quer que o leia, a alegria e o stoke que obtenho não apenas na vida, mas no surf.
